Family History and General Information

B-M’s parents were separated since he was young, and B-M has been under the responsibility of his father who is now a mechanic at LM Garage in South Pattaya. After B-M’s father got a job, he told his mother to move from her hometown to Pattaya, to take care of B-M. As he was the only one working in the family, the income that he earned was insufficient to support the family. His mother is now a masseuse and looks after B-M at the same time. They now live in a rented room near the Redemptorist Center. At the suggestion of a staff member of the Redemptorist Center, they decided to bring B-M into the care of our Day Care Center where he will have the possibility of starting his educational career. His physical development will also be closely monitored when he starts at our Day Care Center in September. (WS)

January, 2009

The most important meal of the day for a growing child is breakfast. A well balanced breakfast gives the child the energy it needs not only to get through the day, but to supply the building blocks to allow for growth, not only physically but mentally as well. Our Day Care Center supplies a well balanced breakfast to all of our children at 7:30 a.m. each day that they are in attendance. The official day is opened by the singing of the National Anthem, which is quite humorous. The older kids, who know the words, do a fairly good job, but the younger ones, not knowing the words, make their own up and try to sing as loud as the older kids! Following the Flag raising, the children do their daily exercises, led by their teachers and accompanied by music. It is quite humorous to see some of the kids rolling across the floor and doing their best to copy their teachers. Once the exercising is finished, it’s down to some basic developmental games focused mainly on reading and practicing language skills. The younger ones usually play with Lego while the older ones will watch educational TV programs or try their skill at coloring. After a good lunch it’s nap time. After their nap, weather permitting, the children will spend time in the playground or trying their hand at some creative exercises. Later in the afternoon, the parents start arriving to pick up their children. Here at our Day Care Center, B-M currently attends the first year of our kindergarten educational programme. He is a very good adjuster and learner. An active talkative young boy, B-M understands what is said to him and he can already say many long clearly understandable sentences. Being a chatty and inquisitive student, he does not hesitate to ask his teacher when he has questions. B-M likes drawing and enjoys playing in our small playground. He enjoys good health and has a good appetite. His current weight is 15 kg and height is 103 cm. (WS)

May, 2009

In the meanwhile, B-M has grown up to be a smart charming young boy with about 105 cm and a weight of 16 kg. A cheerful and good learner, he knows more than 10 colors, all 44 Thai alphabets, all 26 English letters. He is now able to count 1-30 and can tell many parts of the body. He speaks a lot and his language skills have improved much since the last update. He can tell the stories of himself by using the long sentences. After he listens to the stories telling by his teacher, he can ask and answers what happens. He happily greets his teachers and his friends in the morning when he enters the gate of our nursery school, and lively waves his hand and says good bye to them when his parent picks him up in the afternoon. A lovely and polite child, B-M always says “Thank you” when somebody helps him, and apologizes and accepts when he does some mistakes. Likes most children at his age, his people know what he feels when they look at his face which clearly shows his expression. A good lovely child, B-M enjoys sharing and helping his friends. He loves playing with the ball and he can throw and catch the ball very well. B-M is physically active and likes to play with the Lego. While other students had a long vacation in April, B-M and his friends continued to go to our nursery school. There is an important festival for Thai people in the middle of April. This is the Songkran Festival or the Thai Traditional New Year. Our Day Care Center celebrated this festival on the 10th of April, 2009. Our children, having learned about the Songkran festival, paid respect to their teachers by pouring water on their hands and asking for their blessing. They also played the Thai traditional children games which are rarely seen at the present and happily threw water at each other. B-M had a wonderful time at this festival. Health is very important to our life. Our Day Care Center provides a monthly medical check up for our children on the last Friday of each month. At the end of May, there are 8 children who have to see the dentist as they have decaying teeth, but B-M is not one of them. (WS)

October, 2009

B-M will turn 5 years old in November this year. He is undoubtedly a unique individual with his own personality and talents. He is an outgoing boy who has had enough personal experience to master the simple concepts in life. He is now able to put sentences together into paragraphs and paragraphs into stories. At the same time, his activities and play become more complex. A good-tempered and cheerful boy, B-M loves singing and dancing which is a wonderful activity for kids. Besides having good self-help skills, he also kindly helps his friends and his teachers as much as possible. At this stage of his life, he is not only able to dress himself and put his own shoes on, but also can do his own buttoning and zipping. He actually takes pride in himself on his independent dressing. A talkative and playful young boy, B-M prefers playing to studying in class. Like the majority of young boys at his age, it is very difficult for him to calmly listen to his teacher in class. However, he attentively does his class assignments. He enjoys reciting easy poems and knows all 7 days of the week. He enjoys talking about what is happening in his life to his people. A strong and healthy boy, he now weighs 17 kilograms and is 106 centimetres tall. On the 16th of October, B-M and his friends joined in the “in House Sport Day”. This day was full of games, laughter and good food. Many of the sports were adapted to be more like games so that our preschoolers could enjoy them and participate in them also. (WS)

March, 2010

Playing is the work of B-M. He prefers playing in the playground to sitting in classes. His teacher encourages him to give his full attention to his schoolwork. He now is able to write his name. When he is among his peers, he is a talkative boy who happily chats with them, especially when he is with his best friend, Title. However, he doe not speak very much during class. The teacher encourages him to answer questions, therefore participating in their activities as much as possible and encouraging him to express himself. He is a friendly little boy with a happy disposition who is happy to share things with his friends. He also likes to help put everything away when the activities are finished. B-M now weighs 20 kilograms and is 111.8 centimeters tall. B-M and his classmates have started the computer class taught every Tuesday. He has become familiar with several children’s computer programmes and can use the mouse to lead him through the games and activities. Every Wednesday, B-M and his classmates also take swimming lessons. This training makes them strong and brave. B-M appears afraid of being in the water. He is slowly learning how to swim. Like all children in our Day Care Center, B-M is cared for in safe and stimulating surroundings. Health is very important to our children. Our Day Care Center provides a monthly medical check up for our children on the first Monday of each month. B-M and his peers were recently given an oral polio vaccine. (WS)
