Family History and General Information
Pop appears to be a good follower. Along with some of his classmates, he ran away from home to travel to Pattaya. Our city police met him in a computer games shop and brought him into the care of our Drop-In Centre. His father says Pop is an intelligent student at school but he overused the computer games. Pop has his private world and shows he does not want to return to his home. Arrangements had been made for Pop to continue his formal education in Chanthaburi Welfare School. He will be in the 3rd year in the lower education level when the new school year begins. While he is living at our Centre, he displays himself as a happy young man who loves to dress fashionably like most young teenagers. His progress will be closely monitored. (WS) August, 2008 Pop shows his general good behaviour and conduct both at the Centre and the School. His current ambition is to be a programmer and to own a computer shop. He is noted for being a good leader, also one who helpfully does the household chores. He enjoys his life at the boarding school and regularly returns to the Centre for special occasions and the long weekends. He recently returned to the Centre to take part in the 5th Memorial of Father Ray Brennan on the 16th of August, 2008. This day was the most wonderful time for the children under our care. They and the staff spent the day in recalling Father Ray, who was our great giver. Pop and the children from the Centre had a chance to present their hand-made glass craftwork for sale. They enjoyed eating the delicious food and drinks prepared by the kind donors. They all thanked them for that kindness and will never forget this day. (WS) February, 2009 Pop will complete his 1st year in the upper secondary educational level, equated to Year 10 in March 2009. He will be transferred to the school in Pattaya when the new school year begins in May, so that our staff at the Center can help him on the academic side. He is now preparing himself for the entrance examination and he expects to be a student in the Computer Science Faculty of the government’s university. He says he will be a good programmer who creates non-violent games fro children. He has to work very hard to succeed his goal as it is very difficult to pass the entrance exam. This faculty is very popular among potential students and only takes the students who get high scores. Pop is an intelligent and diligent student who is quite talented in the computer. He is good at computer graphic and arts. Generally he is a cheerful, talkative young teenager who has his own style of dressing. This self-confident good-tempered young man is liked by his friends. During the school holiday in October, he returned to our Center and had a lot of fun while he was living here. He proudly told his teachers at the Center that he often helped the teachers to type and he earned a little prize money for his efforts. (WS) May, 2009 With the encouragement and support from our staff at the Drop-In Center, Pop and 9 other children decided to live at our Children’s Home and enter the school system. He was formally released into the care of the Children’s Home on the 1st of April, 2009. Over a month before the new school year started, the children had been preparing themselves for their academic studies. Pop mixes well with other residents and diligently does his assigned tasks. He is in his first year at the government’s Banglamung Vocational Training School where he is taking courses in Computer. He is enjoying the school’s surrounding environment, his new friends, as well as each subject. He has been observed closely to ensure a smooth transition although it was discovered that he has been adapting himself quite well. (WS) July, 2009 Pop’s family expresses their desire to take care of Pop while at the same time, requesting that our Home continues to help Pop in form of educational support. Pop remains to be in the same vocational educational institute while living with his family. He is now under our Fr. Ray Scholarship Programme. (NS) |
