Family History and General Information

Boss’s father works in a superstore and his mother is a motorcycle driver. His parents have to look after Boss and 2 nephews as their parents both passed away. These children are grown up enough to look after Boss on the weekends. Boss is taken to work with her mother on Mondays to Fridays. His mother sometimes places him into the care of her friends when she works. When she found out that our Day Care Center was a place which gives care, love and warmth to toddlers, or pre-school children, who are living in poverty and to relief the busy parents’ burden trying to make a living she decided to place him into our care with her wish that he will be given all the help and love so that he may properly develop physically, spiritually, wisely, and socially. Boss today attends our 1st year class in the kindergarten level at our Day Care Center, and his physical development and learning will be closely monitored, like all children in our care. (WS)

January, 2009

The most important meal of the day for a growing child is breakfast. A well balanced breakfast gives the child the energy it needs not only to get through the day, but to supply the building blocks to allow for growth, not only physically but mentally as well. Our Day Care Center supplies a well balanced breakfast to all of our children at 7:30 a.m. each day that they are in attendance. The official day is opened by the singing of the National Anthem, which is quite humorous. The older kids, who know the words, do a fairly good job, but the younger ones, not knowing the words, make their own up and try to sing as loud as the older kids! Following the Flag raising, the children do their daily exercises, led by their teachers and accompanied by music. It is quite humorous to see some of the kids rolling across the floor and doing their best to copy their teachers. Once the exercising is finished, it’s down to some basic developmental games focused mainly on reading and practicing language skills. The younger ones usually play with Lego while the olders will watch educational TV programs or try their skill at coloring. After a good lunch it’s nap time. After their nap, weather permitting, the children will spend time in the playground or trying their hand at some creative exercises. Later in the afternoon, the parents start arriving to pick up their children. Considered to his age, Boss was redivided into the youngest group of our day nursery. He presently attends our pre-kindergarten educational programme. He now weighs 16.5 kg and measures 97 cm. He seems to be a clever and attentive little boy who is quickly at understanding new things and catches what goes on around him. He can feel his emotions and can express them. Along with other children at our Day Care Center, Boss had a lot of fun on the Children’s Day, the 2nd Saturday of the year being observed as the National Children’s Day. They happily danced and actively playing the interesting games. A good self-confident boy, he was awarded as the Best Student of his class. (WS)

May, 2009

Boss now advanced to next grade at our school nursery, now in Kindergarten – Level 1. He is growing up to be a nice young boy. He is now able to count up to the lower numbers correctly. He is now able to count from 1 to5. He likes colouring and is capable of doing it neatly and nicely. He is also learning to read a few letters of the alphabet both in Thai and English. He is self-confident and good tempered. A friendly and talkative young boy, he is one of the popular students at our Day Care Center. He enjoys singing the short songs and dancing. Boss is a fine young boy who likes to play with other children with the same age. He can dress himself and uses the bathroom on his own. He eats just about anything but particularly enjoys fruits. He is healthy and has a good appetite. While other students had a long vacation in April, Boss and his friends continued to go to our nursery school. There is an important festival for Thai people in the middle of April. This is the Songkran Festival or the Thai Traditional New Year. Our Day Care Center celebrated this festival on the 10th of April, 2009. Our children, having learned about the Songkran festival, paid respect to their teachers by pouring water on their hands and asking for their blessing. They also played the Thai traditional children games, which are rarely seen at the present and happily threw water at each other. Boss had a wonderful time at this festival. Health is very important to our life. Our Day Care Center provides a monthly medical check up for our children on the last Friday of each month. At the end of May, there are 8 children who have to see the dentist as they have decaying teeth, but Boss is not one of them. (WS)

October, 2009

Boss is now 3 years and 8 months old. His current weight is 17 kilograms and height is 99 centimetres. He is often absent from our Day Care Center and usually arrives late in the morning. This causes him to spend time in catching up with his friends and then destroys his willpower to learn. He sometimes cannot read what everyone else in his class can. In class, Boss prefers talking and playing with his friends and his teacher encourages him to pay attention to his assignments. It seems that he loves to learn from games. He actively participates in the games lead by his teacher. A cheerful and smiling boy, Boss enjoys playing with his friends but sometimes he can annoy them. Dance is an exciting and wonderful activity for Boss who has a good rhythm of movement. On the 16th of October, Boss and his friends joined in the in-house sport day. This day was full of games, laughter and good food. Many of the sports were adapted to be more like games so that our preschoolers could enjoy them and participate. (WS)

March, 2010

Boss is growing normally into a nice young boy. He is learning to count from 1 to 10 and can identify colours. He can tell the shapes of things and the position of things, “in”, “on”, and “under”. He is learning to do many things involved with daily activities, especially in how to dispose of trash into its special receptacles and not leaving it lying around unattended. He also prefers other pastimes such as playing with the other children. He gives the impression of being a friendly type, full of fun. A friendly, joyful young boy, he mixes well and, as is normal with children of his age, loves playing with others in his age group. He is healthy, capable of feeding himself and can generally attend to his daily routines quite well. He eats everything put in front of him! He now weighs 18.5 kilograms and is 102 centimeters tall. Like all children in our Day Care Center, he is cared for in safe and stimulating surroundings. Our Day Care Center provides a monthly medical check up for our children on the first Monday of each month. Boss and his peers were recently given an oral polio vaccine. (WS)
