Fr. Ray Day Care Center
Family History and General Information
Toon was born into a poor family. His parents both are unemployed and looking for a job. They live in a rental room beside the market. His father has just recently left the hospital as he suffered from Encephalitis. Toon appears to be a bright, good-looking, happy little boy who is not afraid of strangers and mixes well. He was enjoying his meal of rice and vegetables when I visited. He can always manage to find something to play with. He is now able to tell the teachers when he wants to go to the toilet. He is fortunate he has had no problems with his health. Toon’s physical development and learning will be closely monitored, like all children in our care. (WS) February, 2009 The most important meal of the day for a growing child is breakfast. A well balanced breakfast gives the child the energy it needs not only to get through the day, but to supply the building blocks to allow for growth, not only physically but mentally as well. Our Day Care Center supplies a well balanced breakfast to all of our children at 7:30 a.m. each day that they are in attendance. The official day is opened by the singing of the National Anthem, which is quite humorous. The older kids, who know the words, do a fairly good job, but the younger ones, not knowing the words, make their own up and try to sing as loud as the older kids! Following the Flag raising, the children do their daily exercises, led by their teachers and accompanied by music. It is quite humorous to see some of the kids rolling across the floor and doing their best to copy their teachers. Once the exercising is finished, it’s down to some basic developmental games focused mainly on reading and practicing language skills. The younger ones usually play with Lego while the older ones will watch educational TV programs or try their skill at coloring. After a good lunch it’s nap time. After their nap, weather permitting, the children will spend time in the playground or trying their hand at some creative exercises. Later in the afternoon, the parents start arriving to pick up their children. Here at our Day Care Center, Toon presently attends our pre-kindergarten educational programme, the youngest group of our day nursery. He generally is a happy smiling young boy. Attending our day nursery for 3 months, he appears to be more talkative. He likes to tell his teachers what he wants. Toon can spend a long time doing what he is interested in. For example, he is fond of watching television and is concentrating so hard on the TV that he is unaware of friends playing around him. When he is playing with his friends, he likes to tightly hug them. His friends some times cry and do not like to play with him. He then cries as no one plays with him and it is very difficult to console him. He will stop crying when he gets his favourite toys. His current weight is 13.5 kg and height is 89 cm. (WS) June, 2009 Living in the poor but loving family, Toon is a happy joyful child who is developing normally for his age. He is a bright alert boy who is not shy or afraid of strangers. As with other children of his age he enjoys chatting and playing with his friends, but sometimes prefers playing alone and does not always want to share his toys. He can follow instructions well. He enjoys going outside for walks around the Redemptorist Center or to the playground where he usually has lots of energy when playing on the equipment such as the slide and swing. Toon and the children of his group have an active daily routine and it is a pleasure to see them progress and grow in all aspects. With regard to his health, he continues to enjoy good health and he now weighs 13 kg and is 91 cm tall. Toon continues his pre-kindergarten class at our Day Care Center. A happy learner, he enjoys learning from nature. He loves sitting on the ground outside and finding what is in the soil. It is not strange to see him covered in mud, sometimes from head to feet. Toon carefully listens to the stories being told by his teacher. Being a polite child, he sweetly says “thank you” when being given his meal and snacks. Academically, he is able to count 1-10 and knows the names of lots of animals. He also knows his body parts and their functions. He enjoys connecting the Lego bricks and reports to his teachers what he is trying to do. He can feed himself and can handle his personal sanitary requirements but he still requires a little help. His parents report Toon enjoys his life at our Day Care Center. (WS) January, 2010 A happy active boy, Toon is growing normally into a lively joyful boy. He is encouraged to play with other children, and he sometimes sha res his toys with them but he prefers playing alone. A strong and healthy boy, he has a good appetite. He loves fruits especially apples. His current weight is 14 kilograms and height is 93.05 centimeters. He loves outdoor activities, playing in the playground and chasing with his teachers. He runs fast and his teachers are usually too tired to chase him. He happily smiles with pride when nobody can catch him. Sometimes he quickly runs away after he pushes down his friends. Then he sadly apologizes to them when they cry. It is very difficult for Toon to sit silently; there is always something that he wants to do. However he attentively listens to the stories being told by his teachers who are pleased with his development. On the 16th October 2009, there were the in-house sport competitions which adapted for the young children. The children who came to our day nursery on that day were encouraged to participate. Prizes were being given out throughout the day as the various competitions were completed. Toon was a representative of the Red Team to join in the creeping race. When it was time for the competition, he did not join as he preferred playing in the rain. He happily played without wearing shoes. Along with other children who came to our day nursery on the 23rd of December 2009, Toon was taken the oral polio vaccine. They will have more vaccinations again on the 27th of January 2010. (WS) July, 2010 Toon presently attends the first year of our kindergarten educational programme. He is now developing well and progressing excellently. He appears to be an intelligent and independent boy who is particularly skilful at following instructions both quickly and correctly. Nevertheless, it has been noted in the classes that he prefers playing to studying. He is able now to recite the Thai and English alphabets, but he cannot count so well however, it is a positive step over the last six months. He loves learning new things and enjoys playing with Lego. When he completes his masterpiece, he proudly shows it to his teachers. Toon can be quite a naughty boy who sometimes gets up to tricks with his friends here at the Day Care Center. He enjoys running and climbing in the playground when he can. Toon very much likes to eat -- and in particular, milk and sweets. He now weighs 19 kilograms and is 97 centimeters in height. (WS) |
