Thanks to the generosity of two German charitable organisations, ‘Stop-Poverty’ and ‘Officium et Humanitas’ the children attending the Fr. Ray Day Care Center now have a wonderful new adventure playground.
On the morning of Saturday 5th June Mr. Michael Maier, founder of Stop-Poverty, visited the children and officially opened the new play area, much to the excitement of the pre-school youngsters.
The previous day the teachers had used all their skills to keep the children occupied as they were distracted by the noise of the building work. They climbed up to the window to watch the workers and constantly asked if they could go and play.
But lessons continued and the children were told that everything would be ready the following day, even though a few children attempted to have a play whilst leaving the Center at the end of the day.
Mr. Maier handed over the cheque covering the costs of the playground to Mike Lancaster, Development Director at the Fr. Ray Foundation, who thanked Mr. Maier for his support, and also asked him to pass on to the members of Officium et Humanitas the gratitude from the children.
But the moment the children had been waiting for arrived and they were free to play and there was a mad rush to see who would be the first to climb up and first to slide down.
