Able the Disabled

The annual Able the Disabled Open Day took place yesterday and more than fifteen local children with special needs took part.
They climbed onto horses, and walked around the arena performing tasks along the way.
One station saw them selecting a hoop form a bucket and then placing it onto a stick. They they had to walk their horse the whole length of the arena while carrying a spoon with an egg on top.
After zig-zagging through the cones they dismounted and carrying a cup of water they ran to the other end of the arena and washed the yellow rubber ducks.
The whole aim of the exercises is to get the children using their fine motor skills and also to think about what they are doing.
Judges gave points, and everyone received a rosette, but one of the youngest participants walked away with the huge winner’s trophy.
