Family History and General Information
Boom and Orn are half-siblings. Boom comes from a poor and broken family. His parents are separated. His mother has been convicted and spent time in jail several times for the possession and use of drugs. She has been remarried several times, while Boom’s father disappeared from his life. Boom and his sister were living with their grandparents until their grandmother passed away. They were then sent to live with their aunt, who unfortunately could not take care of them properly as she already has two children of her own. Boom and Orn were left to fend for themselves in many ways, almost always being left alone at home. At times they would barely have food to eat and they did not attend school. They were unclean and not developing properly for their age. Their aunt contacted the Rayong Shelter for Children and Families and asked for help. Finally, the Rayong Shelter contacted our Village and Boom and his older sister were transferred to our Fr. Ray Children’s Village with the hope that he receives the best education available, and therefore the possibility of a good future.
Boom is welcomed by every member of the Village to live in the tenth house. Like all children here, he is well looked after by the Caregiver “Mother” who takes care of the children under the “we are family” concept and gives them the family life that all children require and deserve.
Boom finished his 2nd term of Grade 1. He continues his Grade 2 when the new school year started at the middle of this month. This past school term his favourite subject was Thai Language. On the other hand, the hardest subject for him was English as he said that he isn’t good at reading and writing.
At school, Boom gets along well with all his classmates. Last term, he had a chance to join in the football competition at our Children’s Home. He said although his team lost, he was very enjoyable. He is friends with everyone, but at the Village, his best friends are Tey, Tle and Nuth. They play together, go on adventures and are always laughing about some new and silly thing they are doing.
Boom has a very good appetite, eating pretty much anything, but his favourite food he says is KFC- a very popular answer amongst our children. Overall, he continues to be healthy and strong with no major issues.
Boom is living happily in House Number 10. During the school’s holidays he was lucky to be able to go to Hat Sai Kaew Navy Beach with the rest of the Village. Boom loves swimming and he had an amazing time playing in the water and sand – exploring all the little fish and creatures the beach had to offer. Moreover, he also participated in a charity project called “Strengthening Social Immunity of Children and Youth” at the Children’s Home. One of his most favourite is playing football with our volunteers on every Saturday.
