Family History and General Information
Fah comes from a poor and broken family in Nonthaburi – a province adjacent to Bangkok. Her parents are separated. She lives with her great grandmother who is 80 years old. She is makes a living from selling things, but this is a very irregular and unstable income. Living with Fah and her great-grandmother is also her grandfather who is 60 years old and unemployed. Both of Fah’s parents have remarried and live with their new families. They had never contact Fah since leaving her in the care of her great-grandmother.
Fah often goes out in the evenings without her great-grandmother’s permission. She is worried about Fah’s safety and knows that in her old age she is not able to care for her in the way that she needs. She decided to ask for help from the Nonthaburi Shelter for Children and Families. After a meeting with the officers, they concluded that was best to transfer Fah to our Drop-In Center with the hope that she receives the best education that is available, and therefore the possibility of a good future.
Fah began Grade 2 at the beginning of July. This past school term her favourite subject was Mathematics. On the other hand, the hardest subject for her was English as she said that she isn’t good at reading and writing.
At school, Fah gets along well with all her classmates. She is friends with everyone, but at the Village, her best friend is Fon. They are very close and prefer to talk amongst each other. They are chatting about life and anything that is happening at the Village and the school. They enjoy watching cartoons and running around together.
Fah has a very good appetite, eating pretty much anything, but her favourite food she says is som tum or spicy papaya salad with roasted chicken and sticky rice- a very popular answer amongst our children. Overall, she continues to be healthy and strong with no major issues.
Fah is living happily in Rose House. During the Covid-19 lockdown Fah kept very busy helping in our gardens and playing with the younger children. She is a lovely young girl who continues to grow and learn every day.
