Family History and General Information
Palm, Ben and JJ are brothers. They come from a poor and broken family in Rayong – where is not too far from Pattaya. Their parents are separated while their father was serving a prison sentence for selling drugs. Their mother is remarried and moved to live at Chanthaburi- a province adjacent to Rayong.
Palm is the oldest of the three brothers. Both Palm and Ben are living with their paternal grandmother who is living in an impermanent and dirty structure without any facilities, completely unsuitable to grow up in. Their grandmother is a rag picker and she is also picking some natural products for sell. She cannot properly take care of her grandchildren. So, she decided to ask for help from our Drop-In Center with the hope that they receive the best education available, and therefore the possibility of a good future.
Palm is welcomed by every member of the Village to live in the eighth house. Like all children here, he is well looked after by the Caregiver “Mother” who takes care of the children under the “we are family” concept and gives them the family life that all children require and deserve.
Palm finished his 2nd term of Grade 2. He will be advancing to Grade 3 when the new school year starts in May. He will be studying at Darasamut School, one of the best schools in the Chonburi province. Palm is a smart young boy who excels in class. He said that he likes to study all the subjects but his favourite subject is Math as it is easy for him to understand since there is only one correct answer.
At school, Palm gets along well with all his classmates. He is friends with everyone, but at the Village, his best friends are his two younger brothers JJ and Ben. They play everything together, including going on adventures and getting into lots of mischief. Palm is a very active young boy who loves running around, playing football and competing in marbles with his friends. On Saturday afternoons Palm joins some of our other children from the Village and Home in football training with our volunteers – his favourite team is Manchester United.
Palm has a very good appetite, eating pretty much anything, but his favourite foods he says are noodles, fried rice, and the ubiquitous Mama instant noodles. Overall, he continues to be healthy and strong with no major issues.
During the school’s holidays he was lucky to be able to go to Hat Sai Kaew Navy Beach with the rest of the Village. Palm loves swimming and he had an amazing time playing in the water and sand – exploring all the little fish and creatures the beach had to offer.
Palm is living happily in House Number 8. His mother and stepfather come to visit him and his brothers from time to time.
