Family History and General Information
Palm, Ben and JJ are brothers. They come from a poor and broken family in Rayong – where is not too far from Pattaya. Their parents are separated while their father was serving a prison sentence for selling drugs. Their mother is remarried and moved to live at Chanthaburi- a province adjacent to Rayong.
Palm is the oldest of the three brothers. Both Palm and Ben are living with their paternal grandmother who is living in an impermanent and dirty structure without any facilities, completely unsuitable to grow up in. Their grandmother is a rag picker and she is also picking some natural products for sell. She cannot properly take care of her grandchildren. So, she decided to ask for help from our Drop-In Center with the hope that they receive the best education available, and therefore the possibility of a good future.
Palm is welcomed by every member of the Village to live in the eighth house. Like all children here, he is well looked after by the Caregiver “Mother” who takes care of the children under the “we are family” concept and gives them the family life that all children require and deserve.
Palm is currently in second grade at Baan Nork School. Here at our Village, he mixes well with the children. Everyone is very happy to see that Palm has been able to adapt himself well to his new surroundings and has made friends at both our Village and at his school. Palm is a very active little boy who is continuously running around and taking part in any and every activity that is offered. He enjoys football and the feeling of being on a team with all the boys. He also has a real love for the small scale farming and gardening that we do at the village. Palm spends time on the weekends helping to weed, and water the gardens and harvest any vegetables ready to eat. Continued close monitoring and supervision are being maintained to ensure that her transition into his new life goes as smoothly as possible.
