Father Ray Children's Home

Saturday evening was the date selected to hold the bi-monthly birthday party at the Children’s Home, and the theme of the event was ‘The Oscars’.

The girls seemed to take all day preparing for the evening. Styling their hair, applying make-up, making sure their outfits were perfect and leaning to walk in very high heeled shoes.

And beautiful they all looked, causing the boys to fall silent and stare as they entered the party.

The children, split into groups, made their own version of well known pop videos and while none of the children have much, if any, experience in film making the results were often hilarious, sad and loud, while others did not seem to make any sense at all, but everyone appeared to be having a lot of fun.

Everyone who celebrated a birthday in January or February was called to the stage to receive a gift from Father Peter or Brother Denis, but the moment everyone was waiting for was the announcement of the team who would be called forward to receive the prize for ‘Best Picture’.

As the envelope was slowly opened there was silence, and the winning film was the one made by the staff at the Home.
